As Trade Compliance Manager for Process Industries Switzerland at ABB, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving the trade compliance framework for the Local Business Line. This role ensures all international business transactions and trade activities comply with ABB’s global trade programme, customs, export control, sanctions, and origin regulations.

Tasks

  • Take ownership of developing, improving, and implementing customs procedures, origin management, sanction lists screening, dual-use classification, and export controls for the Local Business Line.
  • Functionally lead trade compliance resources within the Local Business Line, including the implementation and continuous improvement of ABB’s Trade Compliance Programme.
  • Lead and oversee Trade Compliance within the Local Business Line, ensuring the implementation and continuous improvement of internal directives, control systems, local trade reviews, self-audits, and corrective actions.
  • Provide expert guidance and training on customs, origin, export control, and sanctions compliance, supporting the Local Business Line and coordinating trade compliance resources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain strong alignment with key stakeholders such as CTCO, TCS, PCE, declarants, and logistics teams.
  • Drive Trade Compliance in day-to-day operations and complex projects, including risk assessments, internal checks, master data and supplier-related compliance requirements, and regular updates to stakeholders on implementation progress and relevant regulatory changes.
  • Advise and drive all trade compliance matters in the Local Business Line’s complex projects to different countries.

Requirements

  • A degree as a Foreign Trade Specialist, Manager, or Export Control/Customs Compliance Officer is required.
  • Excellent experience in free trade and preferential origins as well as in trade compliance matters is essential.
  • Solid knowledge in Swiss (GKV), EU, and US (EAR) dual-use and sanctions regulations is required.
  • Experience in an industry with large project businesses in various countries and the ability to lead and motivate a team is necessary.
  • Proficiency in SAP and SAP GTS E4H is required.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, and German language skills are considered a plus.
